Using Your Gift Card: Setting and Using a PIN
What is a PIN?
A Personal Identification Number (PIN) is a four-digit number created by the cardholder to use with plastic gift cards for in-store purchases as a debit transaction.
Setting Your PIN
- Online Activation: Set your PIN when you first activate your gift card.
- Already Activated: If your card is already activated, you can set or update your PIN when checking your balance.
Using Your PIN
- In-Store Debit Transactions: Enter your PIN during the transaction.
- In-Store Credit Transactions: You can run the transaction as credit, which does not require a PIN.
- Online Purchases: If prompted for a PIN during an online purchase, the merchant likely does not accept this card, and the transaction will not be successful.
Virtual Visa and Mastercard Gift Cards
- PIN Not Required: These cards cannot be used for in-store purchases and do not require a PIN.
