How do I use my gift card for in-store purchases?

To use a VISA or Mastercard physical/plastic gift card in-store issued by perfectgift.com, simply swipe it at the checkout like you would a regular credit card. 

NOTES:

• Virtual/digital Visa and Mastercards issued by perfectgift.com can only be used online or over-the-phone, unless you add them to your Google or Apple wallet. 
• For virtual/digital merchant-specific cards issued by perfectgift.com, refer to that specific merchant’s terms or contact the merchant.
• If you have a physical/plastic card with a QR code on the back that was issued by perfectgift.com, it cannot be swiped or used in store. Refer to this article on how to redeem and use your PerfectGift+.

Step-by-step: Paying in store

• Activation required (for Visa/Mastercard only)
  • Your Visa or Mastercard must be activated before it can be used.
  • For help activating your card, view our Activation FAQ.
• Swipe your card
  • Swipe your physical/plastic gift card at the register the same way you would a regular credit card.
    • Perfect Gift cards are not contactless and do not support tap and pay. The magnetic stripe must be swiped to make a purchase.
• Confirm your payment
  • Choose the credit option to bypass a 4-digit PIN. 
    • If a PIN is required at the merchant, you can set a 4-digit PIN when you activate the physical card or check the balance.
    • Visit the Check Balance page to set/change a 4-digit PIN.

Card restrictions

Some Visa and Mastercard gift cards have usage limits, including:

• Restaurants and other tipping establishments
  • Restaurants and other merchants that normally accept tips (for example, nail/hair salons) preauthorize cards for the amount due plus an additional 20% to cover the tip. 
  • Make sure your card balance is enough to cover the amount due plus that 20% tip amount. Otherwise, the card will decline. You can also ask the restaurant to charge a specific amount as credit.

• U.S. only
  • Purchases must be made within the U.S. for Gift cards. 
  • Rewards cards can be used in most countries outside of the U.S. 
• No cash access, cashback or money transfers
  • Gift cards cannot be used at ATMs, for cash back, or at money transfer sites, such as PayPal, Venmo or CashApp.
• No gift card purchases
  • Buying other gift cards with a gift card is prohibited.
• Check your gift card balance
  • For online purchases, make sure the total doesn’t exceed the available balance on your card.
