When you add a PerfectGift gift to your phone's wallet, you may see only an Add to Apple Wallet button, only an Add to Google Wallet button, or both — it depends on your device and browser, not on your gift. Here's why, and how to get the one you want.
Note: This article covers saving an eGift or a PerfectGift gift as a wallet pass (a quick way to view or get back to your gift). If you're looking to add a Visa or Mastercard gift card as a payment method in Apple Pay or Google Pay, see Can I add my gift card to my mobile Apple or Google Wallet? instead.
What decides which badge you see
The website shows a wallet badge based on the device and browser you're using to view your gift — not on anything about the gift itself:
| Device and browser | What you'll see |
|---|---|
| iPhone, iPad, or iPod — any browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.) | Apple Wallet only |
| Mac using Safari | Both Apple Wallet and Google Wallet |
| Everything else (Android phones, Windows PCs, Chromebooks, or a Mac using Chrome, Firefox, or Edge) | Google Wallet only |
So, for example, desktop Chrome on any computer — Mac or Windows — will always show Google Wallet only, because Apple Wallet is only ever offered on Apple devices and in Safari on a Mac.
Common questions
I only see Google Wallet on my computer. Where's Apple Wallet?
This is expected on Windows, and on a Mac using Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. Apple Wallet on a computer is only available in Safari on a Mac. To get it, open your gift in Safari on a Mac, or on an iPhone or iPad instead.
I only see Google Wallet on my Android phone. Where's Apple Wallet?
This is expected. Apple Wallet only works on Apple devices, so Android phones are only offered Google Wallet, whether you're using a browser or the PerfectGift app. To use Apple Wallet, you'd need to open the gift on an iPhone or iPad, or in Safari on a Mac.
I only see Apple Wallet on my iPhone, even in Chrome. Why?
This is expected too. Every browser on an iPhone or iPad shows Apple Wallet only — Google Wallet isn't offered there, regardless of which browser app you're using.
I see both Apple Wallet and Google Wallet on my Mac. Is that right?
Yes, that's expected in Safari on a Mac. A pass you add to Apple Wallet there will also show up on your iPhone through iCloud. Google Wallet saves separately, to your signed-in Google account.
Can I add my gift to Samsung Wallet?
No. Only Apple Wallet and Google Wallet are supported at this time.
Using the PerfectGift app instead
In the PerfectGift iOS and Android apps, the same rule applies, just simplified: the app shows only the wallet that matches your phone — Apple Wallet on iOS, Google Wallet on Android.
Still not seeing the wallet option you expect?
Double-check which device and browser you're using against the table above. If you're on the right combination for the wallet you want and still don't see the badge, please contact us at support@perfectgift.com
